In the Netherlands, the ABN AMRO Open is one of the ten most attended events (in the paid events category).
The tournament is also known as the Netherlands' largest business network events with over 55,000 business visitors annually.
Brief history
From the start of the tournament, in 1974, the best tennis players in the world have participated and the ABN AMRO Open has had big winners. Over the past four decades, nearly all tennis legends have participated, ranging from former stars like Ashe, Borg, McEnroe, Connors, Lendl and Sampras to top players like Federer, Djokovic, Murray and Nadal and the current stars like Sinner, Medvedev and Alcaraz. We also always keep an eye on emerging talent, as shown by the recent participations of Tsitsipas and Prizmic and Boogaard, for example.

Tournament Director
Richard Krajicek, Wimbledon winner and most succesful Dutch tennis player ever, is the tournament director of the ABN AMRO Open. He won the ABN AMRO Open twice: in 1995 and 1997. He has been Tournament Director since 2004.
Partnerships and side events
Together with our title sponsor ABN AMRO, who has been associated with the tournament for over 50 years, we have managed to develop an event in Rotterdam Ahoy that surpasses most other tennis events in the world.
Simultaneously with the tournament, a Wheelchair Tournament is organized, in which the best male and female players in the world participate. Wheelchair tennis legend Esther Vergeer is tournament director of this event.
Esther Vergeer is a seven-time Paralympic champion and five times elected Disabled Athlete of the Year and won the Fanny Blankers-Koen Career Award in 2016. She has been appointed chief de mission of the Paralympic team since the 2018 Winter Games in Pyeongchang.
An entertainment program takes place around the matches on the center court, including spectacular light shows and musical performances. For example, visitors were surprised in 2017 with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and in 2018 with a performance by Afrojack. And in the last anniversary edition, none other than Davina Michelle performed.
